During an intensive pressure cooker project at Fontys University of Applied Sciences, we collaborated with the Municipality of Tilburg to address the growing issue of street harassment. The challenge was inspired by the Dutch "Wij Eisen de Nacht Op" movement, which gained national attention following several incidents of violence against women. Our goal was to develop an innovative solution that could help prevent street harassment and create safer public spaces.
Our solution was StreetVoice, an AI-powered educational application designed to help teachers discuss street harassment, personal boundaries, and inappropriate behavior in the classroom. The application provides teachers with a structured tool to guide conversations, encourage students to reflect on real-life situations, and create awareness about the impact of street harassment.
Throughout the project, we combined human-centered design, generative AI, and rapid prototyping to transform a complex social issue into an accessible educational tool. Our concept won the hackathon, demonstrating the potential of StreetVoice to support schools in raising awareness and preventing street harassment through education.
